Barcelona, Spain

At the end of May the hubs and I went on a week long vacation to Spain. I know everyone thinks that living in Europe you go on vacation all the time. Well, here's my opinion, you travel all the time, but it's not always a vacation. Many times you are waking up early, rushing around to see everything possible, and you are exhausted by the end of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. But sometimes you just want a vacation where you can relax. And that's exactly what we decided to do in Spain. Instead of trying to visit as many cities as we could cram in a week, we decided to enjoy Barcelona for about four days, and then headed over to the party island of Ibiza for 3 days.
Barcelona is by far one of the most amazing cities I've been to.
On my list of favorite places, I think it rivals Paris for the top spot. We arrived in Barcelona on a Saturday afternoon, and I had already booked a food tour for us that evening. Was the food tour really worth it? Not really. BUT we did get to meet some interesting people.

We leisurely wandered around and explored Barcelona at our own pace. The architecture is truly unlike anything I've ever seen before. Much of it was done by Antoni Gaudi, and his style tended to remind me of Dr. Seuss. The Sagrada Familia didn't disappoint, and it was just as amazing as everyone said it would be. After traveling a lot in Italy and seeing one duomo (church) after another, they all start to look the same. All of the small Italian towns start to resemble one another. Barcelona was like a breath of fresh air, and I would go back in a heartbeat!

If you are planning a trip out to Europe anytime soon, I would highly recommend making time to stop in this fantastic city.
