Tea rooms and splash pads {our week}

Oh my, what a week it's been!

With just Jacob and I at home, we had some great days and some days that made me want to pull my hair out.

On Tuesday Jacob turned 14 months, and I feel like he is starting to understand things that I say.
If I ask him where his "vroom vroom" is he'll bring me his car. If I ask him where his ear is he will point to it.
Funny thing is, I think "no" is one of the words I say to him on the regular, yet he still doesn't seem to quite get that one. Hmmmmm.

Tuesday was also my Mom's birthday, and I wanted to celebrate by taking her to a tea room by my house that had recently opened.
Toddlers and tea rooms really don't mix (duh, I know). Instead of a lovely afternoon tea, we stayed for about 30 minutes and then left as quickly as possible. Someone couldn't stop yelling and banging the pretty little spoons against everything.

Of course Nana didn't mind, she thinks her grandson is pretty funny.

Other highlights from the week?

Jacob tried a few new foods (including salmon), which is always something he gets excited about.
I'm not sure which he enjoyed more, his smoothie or his cool new cup.

We checked out a few local play groups/play places, whatever you want to call them. We need some weekly activities to go to regularly (for both of our sanities), so I've been looking into memberships at various children's places.
That stuff is not cheap, but I'm thinking it will be well worth it. Jacob is at an age now where he gets super antsy, and by the end of the day we are both pretty tired of each other. Running errands with Mom isn't good enough anymore, he needs outings that are geared towards him. I also want him to get the chance to interact with other kids and play.

Splash pads may be one of our new favorite things.
Fun with water that's free and nearby? Can't beat that!
I took Jacob to a splash pad five minutes from our house yesterday, and although he was a bit weary at first, he ended up having a blast. This kid loves water, and does not mind it shooting all over him one bit.
I have a feeling this will become a regular outing for us.

What kind of activities do you enjoy doing with your little one?
Do you try and plan different outings each week?
