DIY Polka Dot Bulletin Board

Thursday, September 24, 2015

This project was so easy, yet it made such a nice addition to my work space.
It's the little things, right?

All you need is a plain cork board (I found mine at Hobby Lobby), some acrylic paint, a paint brush, and something round to make a circle stencil with.

I started off by painting the frame of my cork board white.
I normally would have used painters tape along the edges of the cork, but I couldn't find mine.
C'est la vie.

My paint job turned out a little less than perfect which doesn't really bother me, but I would recommend taping off the border.

I didn't feel like buying an actual circle stencil, so I made my own. I used a large circular hole punch that I already had in my craft closet, and made about 4 stencils out of card stock scraps.

I fixed any mistakes free-hand, and also applied a second coat of paint to my polka dots because I really wanted the gold to pop.

Once the board is dry you are free to pin whatever pretty things inspire you!

Halloween PJ picks for littles

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Celebrating holidays with little ones is SO much fun, and I especially love picking out seasonal PJs for Jacob (and soon Annabelle!). I've seen so many cute options for Halloween this year, and I have to admit I've already picked up a couple pairs for Jacob. Here's a roundup of my favorite Halloween jammies for kiddos right now!

Are you a fan of special holiday pjs for your little ones?

I've been meaning to get this post written and up for a week now, if that gives you any indication of how things have been.
Without further ado, here's a little snippit of whats been going on around here lately.

Moving. You might call me crazy but right after our little lady is born (I'm talking weeks) we are moving across the country. The timing is a little insane, and I wish we were able to move before Belle is born, but things just didn't work out that way. We are REALLY excited to be moving back to Oregon though, and I think Bend will be the perfect place to raise our littles. I'm looking forward to a cold winter and for Jacob to see snow! We've started the process of packing up the house, and I'm hoping to have my part of it done before the baby arrives. Pulling out baby gear while packing away everything else has been a little insane, but I know we will all be so thankful once we are on our merry way to Oregon!

Halloween in September. I am ready for Halloween y'all. About a week ago Jake was out of town so Jacob and I busted out all the Halloween decor and decorated the house. I love holidays, especially now with little ones. Jacob definitely understands more this year, which makes me determined to make sure he doesn't miss out on anything! Annabelle is due on the 11th, so I think part of me is in the mood to celebrate Halloween early because I'm worried that with all of the craziness of a newborn AND moving I might not get to enjoy everything I want to with Jacob. I also feel like it's a bit of misplaced nesting energy. Who knows, but if you follow my Instagram feed you've definitely seen some of our "Halloween in September" festivities.

Hobbies. I have wanted to learn how to sew for a while, and in August I finally took the plunge and got myself a sewing machine for my birthday. I LOVE IT. So far I've only been sewing things for Annabelle, and this past weekend I had to finish up all of my projects in preparation for both her arrival and the move.

Pregnancy. This pregnancy has definitely been different than my first. I'm not sleeping well and I have way more aches and pains. Some days it's really bad. BUT I'm also moving around more and staying pretty limber. At 37 weeks I'm still crawling around on the floor and bending down to pick things up without a problem. I think I have my toddler to thank for that. We are all set for Annabelle to arrive! Since we are moving at the beginning of November, the sooner she gets here the better. At my doctor appointment last week I found out that I'm 3 cm dilated, which I know doesn't really mean anything, but a girl can dream right?

That's what we've been up to around here lately, I hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Pumpking spice & everything nice

Tuesday, September 8, 2015

As a result I've rounded up a few tasty pumpkin spice recipes to get you in the fall mood!
Some of them have become a staple in our home every year, and some I can't wait to try.

Pumpkin Spice Snickerdoodles//Pumpkin French Toast//Mini Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Muffins//No Bake Pumpkin Spice Granola Bars//Pumpkin Cheesecake//Pumpkin Cookies with Brown Butter Icing

Martha Stewart always has great recipes, and I make these pumpkin cookies every. single. year. Sometimes twice.
About four years ago I also began a family tradition of making a pumpkin cheesecake every Thanksgiving, and this recipe is the one I have stuck with.

I think my family would really love this pumpkin take on snickerdoodles and I would love to try making these granola bars for a healthy pumpkin-flavored snack.

Do you have any pumpkin recipes that have become a staple in your home?
