Weekend Fun {Lake Day}

Monday, June 27, 2016

I think we've officially hit summer weather here, which is great because I was getting tired of the constant dip in temperatures!
On Saturday afternoon we went to a nearby lake where some of my husbands family was camping and spent the day. The weather was gorgeous, Jacob had a blast, and it was so relaxing for me. We have plans to go back in a few weeks and actually camp, which I think Jacob will absolutely love

On another note, I'm kicking off this week with some major goals!
Last night I made a deal with my husband to go two weeks without sugar or alcohol, I don't know what I was thinking. I told him 4th if July has to be an exception, so right now my mini goal is to make it one week. I have an insane sweet tooth, so that basically means we can't have anything of the sort in the house because my willpower sucks. I've also decided to start the 21 day fix again and I'm determined to actually make it through this time. Wish me luck (I'm going to need it)!

Happy Monday, I hope y'all have a great start to your week!

The sweet spot {first week of summer}

Friday, June 24, 2016

It's finally Friday and our first week of summer has rocked!
We made it to the park every single day, had play dates with friends, attended a Minnie themed birthday party and enjoyed a family friendly beer festival last night.
I feel like we've finally hit that sweet spot with the kids where we are more mobile than ever and able to do more than we've ever done with two kids in tow.

After having each babe it would take a while until I got to that point where they seem less like a tiny baby and more like a little person who can be out and enjoy things. I don't even know if it has so much to do with the child as it does just feeling more confident as a parent, but with Annabelle nearing 9 months and Jacob almost 2 and a half I feel like we are definitely at that sweet spot now.
Jacob loves to have fun and Annabelle is pretty content just being along for the ride. It's the perfect combination.

I'm sure that this will be without a doubt the most fun summer we've had. Can't make it home in time for naps because we're having too much fun? No big deal. Is the house a little messy because we rushed out to the park first thing in the morning and ended up out all day? We'll live.
Summer has changed my attitude and I'm so excited to do fun stuff with my kiddos!

Bring on the bbq's, splash pads, park dates and long summer evenings on the porch.
I'm ready for them!

How are you planning on spending your summer?

God Bless Annabelle

Wednesday, June 22, 2016

On Saturday afternoon we welcomed our sweet baby girl into the Catholic faith.
After the ceremony we celebrated with family and friends at our home.
I kept everything fairly simple, and was so busy that I didn't get a chance to snap any pictures! We served deli sandwiches which was a hit because it meant no cooking! I had plans for a much more aesthetically pleasing cake, but when I couldn't find my decorating tips that kind of went out the window.

Luckily I had ordered this "celebrate" cake topper from Sparkle Babies, so my little homemade cake had a touch of flair and was a bit more fancy.

I stopped by Trader Joe's a few days prior to pick up some flowers, because is there really any better decoration than fresh flowers? Trader Joe's always has an awesome selection for a great price too!
I made the God Bless Annabelle banner using my Cricut and a bunch of card stock. I am all about card stock banners! I think they are an easy and inexpensive way to add a little decoration to any space.

I wish I had more pictures to share, but unfortunately my job as a hostess trumped my job as a photographer!

It was a wonderful gathering to celebrate a wonderful event in our families lives.

Father's Day Weekend Snapshots {Smith Rock State Park}

Monday, June 20, 2016

This past weekend was a whirlwind! We had family visiting, Annabelle was baptized, and we celebrated Father's Day.

Yesterday after church when enjoyed a delicious breakfast and drove up to Smith Rock State Park, a gorgeous landmark in central Oregon. Annabelle was snoozing and missed the views, but the rest of us enjoyed it!

My kiddos are so lucky to have such a great Dad and I'm so thankful to have such an awesome partner in life.
We ended the day with a BBQ at my parents house where I got to spend the evening with my Dad and Grandpa. I have to say, I am so grateful for all of the wonderful guys in my life!

I'm currently working on gathering the pictures from miss Annabelle's baptism, and I promise I will share a post about that soon!

Kitchen Organization: Recipe Binders with Design by Nay

Friday, June 17, 2016

One of the many projects I've been working on lately is organization.
I have been organizing everything

The kitchen is one of the first rooms I wanted to tackle because I think it really is the heart of a home.
We have always saved recipes that we come across in various magazines, and we had a blue apron subscription for a while so that provided us with a ton of awesome meal ideas too.
All of this has been sitting in its own cluttered pile for a while now.
Guess what? We never look through it because it is a mess and we forget about it.
I needed a way to store all of these awesome recipes in one place that would be easy to access.
I came across Design by Nay on Etsy and immediately loved her designs.

These adorable custom binders are exactly what I needed to organize all of the recipes we have accumulated over the years.
Design by Nay was great to work with, and even let me customize the design colors a bit. Anytime I had a question I received a response immediately, which for me is so important when you are dealing with anything custom.
My order shipped and arrived quickly, and it was exactly what I wanted!

I used clear sheet protectors to hold all of my recipes, and I love that now I can flip through and remove whatever recipe I'm going to make from the binder.
Design by Nay also makes custom recipe cards and other stationary that you can get to match your binder.

We have discovered so many new and old recipes that I can't wait to make, and I am so happy to finally have it all organized in one easy place!

Weekend Photos

Monday, June 13, 2016

Yet another weekend spent working on the home.
I'm not going to lie, I'm looking forward to the day that we can begin to enjoy our new house instead of constantly hustling to put everything together.
That day will be here soon though, I can just feel it!

We did a little beautifying on the outside which included a wreath, doormat, and potted plants.
My husband also put some finishing touches on our new deck, and later in the week we will have grass. Hooray!

Also, Miss Belle decided to pull herself up for the first time on Saturday so that was an exciting discovery! I say discovery because we had just left her on the floor to play (we were doing who knows what) and I glanced over only to find her standing! She continued to perfect her new trick the rest of the weekend.

I think we are extra antsy to get our house in tip top shape because this weekend we will be celebrating our little Annabelle's baptism, which includes a little gathering at our new casa afterwards.

If you need me I will be in house/party prep mode this week!

Weekend trip to North Carolina

Wednesday, June 8, 2016

It's been a crazy week trying to get back into the swing of things after our weekend trip to North Carolina!
Miss Belle bug and I ventured across the country on our own to celebrate my Goddaughters baptism.
This was my first time flying solo with a babe, and I'm glad to report that the experience was a good one! Annabelle did fantastic!

Raleigh/Durham is a beautiful area, but I do not miss the humidity of the South one bit! Although I do love how it brought out this little girls curls.

The weekend was spent catching up with my old friend and playing with each other's sweet babes. Our little girls are only about two months a part in age so that was lots of fun.

The baptism was special and I am so honored to be this little girls Godmother. It was definitely worth the trip to be there in person for little Ellie Grace!

It was a quick, but much needed trip.
As much fun as we had, I was still anxious to get back home to my boys. I missed my insane little toddler like crazy, and when I got home he gave me a big hug and said "I miss Mama."
Yup, I pretty much melted into a puddle.

Best by Mail: Annabelle's Baptism Invitations with KED Designs

Monday, June 6, 2016

I'm a sucker when it comes to stationary. In a world of emails and text messages, I still think that the best way to send out invitations, thank you notes, and holiday greetings is by mail. Call me old school, but there is just something special about receiving these types of things in your mailbox, it's a tradition that I don't want to let die. It also gives you an excuse to pick out gorgeous stationary, and who doesn't like that?

Later this month we are having Annabelle baptized, and I turned to KED Designs for the invitations. I love ordering invitations from Etsy. Receiving a digital file and printing out the invites myself is much more economical and there are so many designs to choose from!

I fell in love with these rustic invites from KED Designs and knew they would be a perfect fit for the baptism. The owner Kris was wonderful to work with! I had a mockup of the invitation in less than an hour of ordering, and she was always super quick to respond to any questions or requests that I had.
These invitations also came with a front and back, something that I haven't seen very often on Etsy. The design on the back just made the invitation and added a little something extra.

The planning for Annabelle's baptism is underway, and I cannot wait to share more details about it with you!

Homemade Watermelon Popsicles

Thursday, June 2, 2016

What do you do when you find yourself with more watermelon than you could possibly eat?
Juice it and make Popsicles!

After the holiday weekend we found ourselves with an entire half of a watermelon, and then some. I broke out our juicer (my husband has gotten really into juicing for the family, it's fantastic) and started making "watermelon juice".

I poured the juice into this cute Popsicle mold we found at a local kitchen store, and my toddler anxiously waited until "later" to find out what I was up to.

The watermelon popsicles were a hit (obviously), and I know we will be using any extra fruit we have this summer for making our own popsicles!

You can also take any leftover juice and add it to some sparkling water or white wine, and you have a well earned little cocktail for yourself. Fun for the whole family, eh?
